Our School

Crana College, or Coláiste Cranncha, belongs to a wider network of schools under the aegis of the Donegal Education and Training Board. At Crana College, we set high standards and ambitious goals. We are a pupil-centred school, in that we promote the full development of all students.

The spirit of Crana College lies in our commitment to help all our pupils to realise their fullest intellectual, moral, social and physical potential. In other words, we want our students to be happy – but we want them to be healthy, successful and to learn to value others so that they can become responsible and participative members of their own community. Most important of all, we want every individual to be treated fairly and with respect so that they can enjoy school life.

The Crana College school crest is representative of our location and, of our never ending quest for knowledge and education. The C shaped symbol contains the Crana Bridge and the Crana River, both of which are integral features of the landscape surrounding the school. The leaves stem from the trees that line the river, and from which Buncrana or Bun Cranncha (bottom of the tree lined river) takes its name. The trees signify knowledge and strength, both of which are necessary attributes in the quest for wisdom.
